We use to love this place, but tonight it just didn't taste right

They have the best food ever.There pizza and broccoli and chicken and noodles are amazing.The atmosphere is amazing it is always nice and pretty quiet there.The weigthers are are grate they get you seated as soon as you come in the door and they always keep your drinks refilled.This is honestly like one of the best restaurants I have ever ate at.They deserve 1million 5 star reviews.

I have been to China Star Buffet many times because my husband likes the fish. I have not been a fan. Selection is sparse and I usually get a stomach ache afterwards. Last night we ate there and I have full blown food poisoning. I ate chicken and rice. My husband ate fish and is fine. I won't be going back.

All of the food was cold and had no flavor. Even my fortune cookie was bad it felt like playdoh. I have felt sick to my stomach since eating.

Just ate there today was so much better than last time! Found out today! Under New management and they were Wonderful food and their service was the best I have had there!!! My little guys b-day and they made him a little cake and whip cream with Sprinkles on it with a candle!! Highly recommended to go try China Star again!!! :)

I’m only rating this one star because there’s no option for zero. My noodles were hard and the service was unbearable. I was surprised they were even serving food like that. Seriously tasted like it was made in a mop bucket. Oh and who doesn’t have sauces???

I go here quite a bit and usually don't have an abundance of issues. They do sometimes make you feel rushed with as quickly as they bring your check. I always have to ask for extra napkins because they only leave enough for each person one. However, Lately I have been taking the food to go and it seems like more times than not I'm having to wait for more food to be brought out. I requested specifically green beans at one point and the lady coming from the kitchen told me there were still green beans there in the pan, she must have been talking about the 8-10 shriveled, dried up ones I had already pushed to the side of the pan. She did bring more after a few minutes of seeing me stand to the side and wait. For a place that charges by the pound on their take out you would think they would want to keep their buffet stocked full.

Best place to get Chinese food and if you like crawfish or salmon best place to get it

Its a decent place to go eat for a self serve place, food has a good taste, and you can find salad to eat if you are in a light eating purpose. Friendly people 💖

I live in the Chicago area and have eaten a lot of Chinese food when I came home and went to this restaurant not only was the food hot and fresh and good but they have the best crab Rangoon I have ever eaten in my entire life!! I actually can’t wait to come back home again and is the first place I’m gonna go make that the second place after I go because I always go to the Candi for most but I’m getting some more crab Rangoon

The food looked gross to me. I found some things I could eat but not as much as I wanted. Staff was courteous &prices were average.

We like the variety and freshness of the buffet. Reasonably priced.

It's affordable, the selection is fine and the food is good. Lunch isnt always the best time to roll in as things tend to be a little less fresh but for what it is, in small town Iowa it's good.

I've reviewed this place a few times in the past...and I stand behind those comments still. Food is cold, kinda bland, crab Rangoon is awful, general Taos chicken is supposed to be spicy.I'm curious how much is homemade and not just warmed up from the freezer?The booth seating is completely worn out. Some touch-up paint where the chairs scrape the walls wouldn't be a bad idea either. I couldn't wait to get out of there because they are either very stingy with the air conditioning...or it has never worked. This is an issue on every visit.If you think this place is great, you need to treat yourself to a China buffet anywhere outside of Ottumwa. Sorry, third time was NOT a charm!

Good was ok but look up people there is mold and food and dirt on the walls and on the ceiling. When was the last time this place was clean gross.

People are friendly but the food was not good at all. It was either too spicy or it didn’t taste well. Rangoons tasted like they had sour cheese in them. The best tasting thing I had was the cocktail sauce. Will not be back.

Love the food variety. Wait staff is very attentive.

Decent food for great price. Probably the best value food for the price in town. All you can eat, and kids eat cheap too. Service has always been amazing. The wait staff is diligent, and friendly. Building is dated. Where else can you take your family eat all you want and desert for $20.

Enjoy the occasional visit, usually with kids and grandies!! Variety and Company is GREAT! -- p.s. still full, didn't eat THAT much... NOT uncomfortable, just GOOD!

Food is good enough and not crowded

Cafeteria grade food at best. The vinyl seating is all ripping. All the vents are rusting out. Could use a full remodel and overhaul.

I was there sunday dec. 22nd.Noticed some bad reviews but I figured would give it a shot.First I found a LONG hair in the fried rice tray on buffet.Second I noticed their crab/shrimp mix tasted a little sweet in an odd way.Now 400 miles later I am violently sick. 20+ trips to the bathroom and a bucket next to me. All with no end in sight.Absolutely need a serious health inspector to check that buffet.Will never return.

Above decent I would say. The price for the food is very cheap compared to other places. I did enjoy the selection and I’d say it worth trying.
